Primary Packaging Options

When you’re looking to get into new products and markets, you need the essentials for the proper launch.

And the best way to ensure that you get the right launch is the product packaging.

Packaging makes or breaks the goods and its success. While it might be tempting to think it’s all super simple, after a bit, you realize that’s not the case.

Whether you’re doing all of the packaging in house or outsourcing this through a vendor, knowing the different packaging kinds is essential for the right products.

Many products offer different packaging kinds all at the same time.

What is Primary Packaging

This is the packaging that’s in direct contact with the packaging, and usually, this is considered a “consumer” unit, which is a layer that holds back the finished product.

Some of these include bottles, poches, blister packs, and even boxes.

The most popular kinds

When you’re choosing the right packaging for this, there are tons out there.

But don’t just choose one over the other without deep thought, since if you choose this poorly, this results in bad packaging, problems with safety, wrap rage, and other major problems that lead to bad unboxing for the customers at hand.

So how do you choose the right packaging materials.

What are the most important kinds?

Well, let’s dive into what to consider when choosing the primary packaging options.

Flexible Pouches

These are the most popular of the packaging materials that are out there.

Why are they so popular though?

The answer is that there is not on reason for this.

They do cost less, and they use far less packaging materials, so you don’t have to worry about wrap rage.

They also are good for the environment, and they are some of the most eco-friendly materials that are out there. They also offer good resealing capabilities that other kinds of packaging don’t. they also won’t shatter when they get dropped.

They also offer windows too, which customers  can look at to see what they’re getting before purchasing. Combined with AR capabilities, this is definitely one of the best out there.

Glass

Glass is another one that’s been around for over a hundred or so years, and it’s both a staple, but also incredibly popular with differ customers.

This has been used for pretty much anything and can be found in a lot of retail settings.

The beauty of this, is customers can look at this before they see whether or not the product is ideal for them.

It’s also considered fancy, and a luxury material. Finally, it’s also a recyclable product, but it’s not the most earth-friendly, with a high carbon footprint attached to it.

Metal Cans

These are a little more ubiquitous and are actually really good for niche markets.

People like this because they offer a strong packaging and will maintain the freshness whenever it’s shipped out. It can be used for virtually anything too.

Shrink Film

Another super popular one is shrink film, which is used in so many packaging uses, and this is great for frozen pizzas and other foods too. This helps with the shelf life, keeps the shipping costs low, and also keeps the purchase price quite low too, since it doesn’t cost as much to manufacture.

When choosing the right primary packaging, there’s a lot that you can go into, and a lot that you should be mindful of, and from there, be able to choose for yourself the proper primary packaging that you can use today for your foods, and also offer the best consumer experience possible too.
